Here at the Cal Poly IEEE Student Branch, we have two amazing, dedicated Presidents. Here is a little more information about them:
Our IEEE presidents this year are Matthew Ng and Anthony Voung. Matthew is an Electrical Engineering grad student from San Jose, CA in the 4+1 program with an undergraduate in Computer Engineering.
He joined IEEE his sophomore year because the collaboration room was such a great place to get homework done and had plenty of resources for many of the labs.
IEEE is crucial for student success and that is why he has been an officer for the past two years. This year as co-president, Matthew’s goal is to help students succeed and help IEEE grow.
Anthony is a fourth-year computer engineering major from Escondido, CA.
Before coming to Cal Poly, he did not know what IEEE was; but got involved when he got hired to be a co-parts coordinator. From there, Anthony participated in events that IEEE would host i.e. Keysight Seminars, Ice-Cream Socials, and project events. He learned more about IEEE from upperclassmen that were officers in the club and have now gone to work in the industry. There are many opportunities that IEEE can offer to all students.
Anthony stayed in IEEE for the past three years because he wants to continue to influence electrical and computer engineers to join IEEE and give more opportunities to students.
