We’re located in Room 115 in building 20.
Here are a few important things to keep in mind while you use the ICL.
Please inform the officer in charge if there are any problems while you use the ICL. If you have a suggestion about anything you think would make the lab better, we would love to hear from you. You can either talk to the officer in charge, or fill out the contact form here.
Be gentle with the equipment. Most of it is quite expensive and not always readily replaceable on short notice; when it is damaged that is one less tool available for students to do their work.
Please note that the ICL is not the place to store your projects. There are lockers available in the hallway of building 20, please use those.
Keep the labs neat. Electronic prototyping and computer work tend to generate big messes but when you are done for the day, please straighten things up for the next person who will need to use the equipment.
To use some of the equipment in the lab, you must present your PolyCard in exchange for the equipment (such as soldering irons, drills, etc.). You will not receive your PolyCard back until you clean up your work space, so, if you need to go to class and your work space is not clean, then you will receive your PolyCard once you return from class and clean up your space. Food and drink is permitted in the ICL, however you must clean up your food before you leave and both food and drink is not permitted by the lab benches.
This is not your home. As such, you can make yourself comfortable but in the context of being respectful to others. Please don’t lay your things all over the tables as they are to be shared with anyone who needs to work. If the ICL is starting to get full and another person walks in, please be kind and make room for them. Be an overall good human being 🙂
You are welcome to use the lab computers for personal or school work, however, remember that those computers are not yours. Everyone that uses those computers can see all of the files. Also, the computers may be wiped at any time, so do not leave anything on the computers that you need at a later time.
